The VISION of Girl, I thought you knew that… is: A global sisterhood of powerful and confident females.
The MISSION of Girl, I thought you knew that…is: To empower, build confidence, and nurture the self-esteem of females worldwide.
Recently, while looking at my 14-year old daughter Sydney, I pondered her growth and development. It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital as a newborn. Time passes so quickly. As I watched her access her favorite anime, I couldn’t help but to admire who she is, and the woman that I hope for her to become. Why do I admire her? I admire Sydney because of her confidence, tenacity, reasonableness, and compassion. I wish that when I was her age, I had the same level of confidence that she has now.
It is imperative that females, especially adolescent females, know the internal and external power they possess. One of the definitions for power is: the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. Harnessing their internal and external power will license our females to make wise decisions. Moreover, self -empowerment will cultivate a positive internal dialogue about body image and intellectual capabilities. It is my hope that all females develop the POWER to: love, be happy, be patient, be kind, make good decisions, control their emotions, self-advocate, trust their instincts, move forward without the permission of others, respect their bodies and minds, give, ask for help, learn from their mistakes, forgive, reach their goals, be healthy, be thankful, continuously learn, lead by example, break away from the norm, and take the narrow road that leads to inner peace.
This blog, Girl, I thought you knew that… will move females forward. As a result, OUR life’s journey will have even greater meaning.
